Alvin Max Oestreich

Alvin Max Oestreich was born in Deadwood, S.D., to Henry and Iva (Peyton) Oestreich. He graduated from Deadwood High School in 1950. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1954.

On Jan. 16, 1952, he married Arlene Yost in Deadwood. They moved to Rapid City, S.D., in 1954 and to their ‘Home in the Pines’ near Hill City, S.D., in 1988.

Alvin Max Oestreich, 83, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015, at Rapid City Regional Hospital.

He is survived by four daughters, Sandra (Gary) Eschenbaum, Pueblo, Colo., Jeri (Tom) Poland, Black Hawk, S.D., Tami (Mark) Skvicalo, Lead, S.D., Stacey Remily, Rapid City; one son, Norman (Patty) Oestreich, Hill City; nine grandchildren, Ashley (Tommy), Whitney (Marc), Elijah, Nicholas (Kristen), Cody, Max, Mark (Kari), Matthew (Keeli), LeVon and Sheena; and five great- grandchildren, Brynn, Max, Taylor, Diamond and Nevaeh.

A memorial has been established. Visitation was Thursday, Aug. 13, at Behrens-Wilson Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 14, at the funeral home with the Rev. Arnold Kari officiating. Interment followed at Black Hills National Cemetery with military honors.
