Mark Tyler was born in Veblen, S.D., a small farming town in the eastern side of the state. He was the son of "Frenchie" Loyd Tyler and Florence Vrchota Tyler.
When he was six months old they moved to Hill City. He loved the Black Hills and knew every nook and cranny around. He loved hunting, fishing and enjoyed time with his family and visiting his friends. He was always telling tales of the deer he shot and the extra-large fish he caught. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having served two tours in Vietnam from 1968 - 1971. Mark retired after 30 years of dedicated service for the city of Columbia Water Department. He was a beloved husband for 44 years to Linda Singleton Tyler.
Mark Tyler, 66, of Columbia, S.C., died Dec. 19, 2015. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Linda Tyler of Columbia, S.C.; daughters Adell Hudson of Columbia and Heather Russell (Chad) of Irmo, S.C.; grandchildren Anna Hudson, Jordan Russell and Alayna Russell; sisters Jean Ann Wannamaker of Vancouver, Wash., and Penny Inglis of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Two close friends Daryl Johnson and Sonny Shriner, also Warren Barfoot (deceased), and numerous friends in Hill City. A gravesite service will be held in Hill City in the spring.
