The Keystone and Hill City Area chambers of commerce will cohost a District 30 House of Representatives candidate forum prior to the June 7 election date. The forum will be held at the Keystone Community Center located at 1101 Madill St. in Keystone on Tuesday, May 10, from 6:30-8 p.m. A complimentary taco bar will be offered for attendees prior to the forum at 6 p.m.
All District 30 House of Representative candidates have been invited — including Democratic candidates Sandy Arseneault and Kristine Winter and Republican candidates Julie Frye–Mueller, Marilyn Oakes, Richard Mounce, Travis Lasseter and Tim Goodwin. The Hill City Prevailer News will sponsor and provide coverage of the event.
“As a chamber, we believe it is important that voters have an opportunity to know their elected leaders and cast an informed vote on June 7,” said Dolsee Davenport, executive director of the Keystone Chamber of Commerce.
Local media and citizens are encouraged to submit questions prior to the event, which will then be posed to the candidates by a moderator. Written questions may be submitted to either chamber via email or mail. Those who don’t submit questions prior to the forum may submit their queries via a form provided at the beginning of the event. If time allows, there may be a brief question and answer period open to the public at the end of the forum.
The Keystone Chamber can be contacted via email at info@keystonechamber.com or by mail at P.O. Box 653, Keystone, S.D., 57751. Contact information for the Hill City Chamber is director@hillcitysd.com and P.O. Box 253, Hill City, S.D., 57745.
The District 30 election will be held on Tuesday, June 7, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Keystone Community Center and at the Hill City Senior Citizen Center located at 227 Walnut Ave. in Hill City.
